The Blackberry 9100 Pearl 3G is an appealing new handset from the renowned manufacturer. Aimed primarily at the functionality side of things, this handset is sure to offer appeal to business users.

The TFT screen is capable of displaying up to 256K colours within a pixel layout of 360x 400, which results in very good levels of display quality of the on screen content. A touch sensitive optical trackpad is provided which is a classic feature of many Blackberry models. This allows users to scroll through options and menus within the user interface simply using their thumb. For efficiency of text entry, half-QWERTY keyboard is provided.

The Blackberry 9100 Pearl 3G features a built in digital camera boasting 3.15 mega pixels. Thanks to the high pixel resolution at which this operates, it results in very good quality still images. The task of taking great snapshots is made very simple thanks to the inclusion of both Autofocus and LED flash features, so even low lighting conditions are no problem. Of course, as an alternative method of image capture this camera can also shoot video footage.

The versatility is certainly the order of the day with this handset thanks to a long list of additional features. The versatile internal media player supports many various formats of music and video files whilst a number of pre-installed games (along with access to a library of downloadable games) are provided for additional entertainment options. Business users are sure to appreciate features such as an organiser, voice memo recorder and document editor (compatible with word, excel, PowerPoint and PDF files). GPS is included with A-GPS support which allows features such as Blackberry maps to function.

A relatively compact handset, the Blackberry 9100 Pearl 3G measures just 108x 50x 13.3 mm and weighs in at a pocket friendly 93.6 g. The handset is available in several different colour variants including piano black, opal pink, royal purple, flash white and red gradient. Therefore it offers appeal to style conscious users who view their phone as a fashion statement.

256 MB of internal storage is provided as standard allowing a good number of media files and other data to be stored. As well as this, a micro SD card slot is also provided which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB although it comes with a pre-installed 2 GB memory card as standard. This makes it ideal for music fans who like to store an entire music collection on their phone. The internal phonebook can accommodate a vast number of entries and boasts the popular Photocall feature which allows a photo to be assigned to a particular contact within the phonebook.

As you may expect from a Blackberry handset, a number of different methods are utilised to provide users with optimum levels of connectivity to both cellular networks and the Internet dependent upon location and network coverage. Class 10 versions of both GPRS and EDGE connect it to cellular networks whilst Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity provides fast access to the Internet.

If functionality and productivity is the order of the day, you are hard pressed to find a more appropriate handset, making the Blackberry 9100 Pearl 3G an ideal phone for business users and students alike.
